Default Need help with what cutting board is the best.

I told my husband I wanted a new rotary cutting board for Christmas. But I have no idea which one to tell him to get for me. Would like to know what brand is the best ?

I just got a gingher rotary mat from amazon and it is wonderful. Twice as thick as all the others and it has a lifetime warranty.

I purchased the Fiskar's one at J's with the Veteran's day coupon. I love it. Whatever model you choose, make certain to get a large one that you can square up at 12 inch block. I never intend to make a 12 inch block but it's nice to know I can.

I can only cut on a Fiskars. When I go to classes and use their Olfa mats, my fabric slips. I think Fiskars has a better grip for some reason.

I think cutting mats are like our other tools...mostly personal preference. I am on my second Olfa mat and have no issues with them. Actually, have one of their rotating mats as well. Probably because I use the same spots all the time that one seems to be showing a bit of wear. But the large ones I've had seem to hold up pretty well. Took me about 10 years to wear out both sides of my last one.

But the gingher one mentioned above is intriguing...will have to check that out.

I really love my Alvin mat. I have had it only three months or so, but so far I like the light color of it when cutting dark fabrics. Darks to mediums are what I use mostly.

My problem with Friskars , which I have is where they place the Inch numbers. They are on the inside of the bottom and side lines, Would be better if they were on the border.

I have an Alvin as well and think it works just as well as the Omnigrid I used to have.
