Our city just opened up a new police station, my kids and I went to the open house tonight, we got to take a tour of the station, see the insides of a squad car and swat vehicle, and meet a few of the K-9's. It was pretty neat, my kids thought it was awesome, and have now both decided they want to be Police Officers when they grow up! :D
Anyways, on our tour, I noticed how bare the walls of their kitchen and offices were. Does anyone have some good ideas of a nice wall-hanging I could make for them? Just something to personalize their space a bit? I really appreciate all that they do, and would like a way to say "Thank-You!"
    Thanks in advance everyone!
*I did a search for "police" but all I found were posts referring to the "quilt police"

Bear Paw Quilt Co. has some police fabric:

Here's a quilt that was made for a policeman:

    Just a beginning.

Also how about a flag wallhanging?

Go to the web site for your poice dept, and get some ideas there. For example, I went to the Minneapolis police web site and their motto is "To Protect with Courage. To Serve with Compassion." Perhaps you could design a quilt with some things related to the dept. Like a badge, a horse if they use horses, a german shephard. Use thier motto in big quilted letters. You could put in the Pal program, which is the youth program, and the poice band. Put in some things that reflect thier different programs. Good luck, and post a picture of what you create, I'd love to see it!

You did mention the K-9s, maybe there is a wallhanging you could design to honor them.

What about their seal in the middle and then sampler blocks of dogs, handcuffs, jail cell w/someone in it, car, swat vehicle, etc. Make it sort of whimsical.

What a great thing to do. I can't wait to see what you create.
