Default Need to know what size squares to cut

Hi,

I am new to quilting and I am planning to make a twister quilt. I bought my fabric today and I really want to start cutting my squares, but they didn't have the twist n turn ruler at the store today and the quilting stores are closed until Monday. I cannot find instructions anywhere. I just need to someone to tell me what size squares to cut for finished pinwheels about 5 inches. Thank you!!

If you put ( twister quilt) in your search engine you will find some tutorials. From what I've seen the tool was made to use with charm squares (5"squares)

There is a nice June Tailor ruler with at least four different sizes for twister blocks available. I found mine at Joann Fabrics.

The twister ruler defines the size of the squares you require. After joining all the squares in the correct positions for your feature. Then use the twister ruler which you place on the tilt. You cut out these squares and join to make the twister pattern.

I've only made one twister quilt, a lap size, and I believe I used 5-6" squares, can't remember as it was several years ago, but the size of the twister determines the size of the blocks.

Welcome to the board. I myself have never tried to make this pattern. Good Luck.

For the "Lil Twister" you use 5 inch squares. Using the "Lil Twister" the pinwheels will finish at 3 inches. I have made these, they are easy and fun.

For the "Twister" ruler you use 10 inch squares. I have not made this one yet but looking at my ruler it seems they will finish at 8 1/2 inches.
