I have a piece that i have used wonder under to attach the applique. It has 8 pieces that over lap. I am going to be using a blanket stitch on my machine to applique. My question is...... where do I start. Like when the pieces over lap and where do I end? Should I do the entire outside edges and then the middles (don't think that is right)........ Help, Please!!!!!!!!!!

When I do applique, I only do the parts on the outside areas and continue to layer.

you do not have to stitch the parts that are under another piece, start at an edge and work around the applique, slow down and narrow your stitch a little when going around tight curves, and stitch all the way around the top most pieces...if you could post a picture of the project we could offer more help..not all appliques are done the same.

I understand the trunk. But like around the arms where other pieces cross over so often? Any help there?

I start at the back and work my way front.

First I would do the little bit of the bottom of the stomach that shows, and then:
The legs
The arms
The ears
The face
The trunk
The eyes

The way I usually handle this is in layers, starting with the layer next to the background and work my way up. It has always worked well for me.

I usually fuse it all down, and then sew around each section.
