I can't wait. I'll be driving there staying Thursday to Saturday. Anyone planning to go? Paducah is the best. The whole town gets involved and its like being in Mayberry for a few days.

That is actually on my bucket list. Can't wait to hear your report back. I'm sure it will be a blast.

Hooray! I am going to be there on Thursday. We have a LQS that sends a bus every day for a day trip! I get to ride there in comfort, spend the day having SEW MUCH FUN, and then ride back! What a deal! I used to drive over from St. Louis and back in the same day, but I was much younger then! :?
I am going with 3 friends from guild, 2 who have never been to the show, so we are all excited about the trip.

Loretta-I have never been to the Paducah show, but I have been to the museum. It was wonderful and I highly recommend it. And don't forget that Hancock's of Paducah is there, too. Several of my friends went to the show a few years ago and they said that Eleanor Burns had tents set up somewhere separate from the show and her fabric prices were sensational.

BUT--the show is only once a year and if you are going to go back to Paducah another time and could do the museum then, I would pick the show. Either way---let us know what you do on your big adventure!!

I want to go, too...Many of the vendors that were in Rosemont this week will be in Paducah next week...So you will be able to see many of the same people...

I park in the park (fairgrounds) were Eleanor Burn's tents are set up and ride the shuttle buses to every place I want to go. The shuttles are free and will come to every quilt spot about every 30 min. or so, make the rounds and come right back. The show takes me almost all day to see with hundreds of vendors in there too. El's tents and her show (free) takes me 1/2 day. The quilt museum takes several hours, the 1/2 price book barn takes several hours, the vendor's hall takes more several hours, Hancock's back room takes several fun hours. Carol Bayer Fallert has her studio open for all the quilters too. I am cutting it close by only staying two days this year. It takes me about 5 hours to drive there. Meeting quilters from all over is fantastic. The shuttles are full of the most fun people who love to quilt! Everywhere you go in town you are with quilters.
I go alone. I like staying at one place for hours or two minutes. I don't like having to compromise where to go and when. This is my personal vacation just for me. 8)

Before I went the first time I asked for details from others on forums that went. I like it because you aren't confined to one big building where the quit show is. Everywhere it is all about quilts during the show. you can walk to the museum from the convention center, it's behind it.
Eleanor has a big QIAD in town and has her tent and sale barns at the fairgrounds. She is always there signing books and talking to everyone. Her son Orion is out and about helping with the fabrics and keeping the tents stocked. Everything is very casual and every one is very friendly.

You don't need to drive anywhere or if you do just follow the shuttle buses to go to every quilt spot. A big sign is on every shuttle list the stops it makes.
I am so glad I made the decision to go at least one time. It's the closest big quilt show to me so I would urge all quilters to go to a big show closest to you while you have the chance. They are worth it.
