Default Need a pattern/idea for a shoulder quilt for DH

I noticed the other day that my husband took a lap quilt and folded it into a triangle and wrapped it around his shoulders. What I would like to do is make a quilt just for the shoulders/torso area.

Has any one made something like this? I tried googling shoulder quilts and did not find anything.

I'm thinking either a square quilt with a slit in the center or maybe a circle quilt like a tree skirt with a wider opening and the sides long enough to go about waist level.

Any ideas would be appreciated. I have a lot of flannel fat quarters in manly colors (LOL) that I can use. I would back it either in flannel or fleece.

Any ideas?

Prayer quilts are out there and they should work for this.

You could make any pattern you like and as big as you like, just cut a slit in one side up to the middle, then a circle to accomodate his neck- sort of like you would do for a tree skirt. What a good idea- my shoulders are cold in the cool weather too, maybe I will make one too.

How about this one. They use jelly rolls, but you can use the dimensions and just do a pieced top:

What do you think of this pattern? http://www.noodle.org/learn/details/...mas-tree-skirt

I wonder if he would like the tie or maybe some velcro on it. Or a couple of large buttons. What do you think?

Maybe big blocks set on point ( good instructions at www. quiltville.com, tips and techniques), nust make enough to lay out a lage triangle, back with fleece.
