I have this tool. My sister gave it to me, and she just called them snippers. It has no marking of any kind on it. I just love it though. It sits right in front of my sewing machine and I use it to snip any thread that I haven't already snipped with my machine. I hope you find the one you are looking for. Nothing beats having just the right tool!

Check out GarretWade.com. They have all kinds of neat stuff, but they carry this type of nipper at a very reasonable price.

I have a pair that are similar but thinner and hubby gave them to me for Christmas one year and I love them. The actual cutting area is a lot smaller but does a great job. When I found out how much he paid for them I was shocked, they were nearly 20.00 from our local quilt shop. I like them because you don't have to put your fingers thru the holes to use them and makes it much quicker. That's why hubby bought them he said after watching me use the scissors. You pick these up and they are already in the palm of your hand ready to go.

I have a pair that I got from walmart sewing notions. They came in a pack with some needles and pins. I think I paid about 88 cents for it. I also have some made by frisker. I found them with scissors and they were called thread snips. I really like them when I chain piece.

I got my first ones in Japan in 1978...Clover make them and I am sure there are many clones. Good luck in your hunt.
P.S. the ones from Japan are wrapped in cord on the handle, orange and cream, with a tassel at the base. All of my others (about 5) are similar to the one you display.

Yes, they are really handy to have at your sewing machine to clip threads and corners off of squares.
Perhaps the ones you are using are a better grade of steel than some of the others you have used. The MGS indicates that - master grade steel. I've had a number for many years and only one is a dud. One pair has been going strongly since 1978.
