need suggestion for dessert block
I'm doing two blocks for state fair. The theme is desserts. Any one have any ideas or patterns to point me in right direction. Drawing a blank.....help! Any technique will do. I know you all won't let me down

Various companies have had fabrics in recent years that had cupcakes or sundaes or or birthday cakes. Here are some I scared up (I have not dealt with any of these sellers).

You could incorporate some fussy cuts into almost any kind of a block. Or maybe you could create some 3 dimensional cakes with trapunto quilting, such as a fluted cupcake paper, swirled icing, and a cherry on top. Or maybe you could make something like an attic windows design that is a bakery window with kids looking in. It seems like a fun project. Hope you enjoy it.

Do you have a regional dessert for your area that you could feature? Are you looking for pieced blocks or appliqué? For pieced blocks I would look through www.quilterscache.com quilt blocks galore for ideas. For appliqué I would look for a desert that would be easily recognizable in fabrics. You might feature something like a banana split, sundae, strawberry shortcake or as someone mentioned an icecream cone.

This is a link to buy the book for $7, but at the bottom is the video for making the quilt. It has an ice cream cone and a banana split. The banana split is in the second video. I have the book, but haven't made it yet.
