I have volunteered to do our block of the month at our guild. It has been struggling to stay alive for a few years. I think people do not wish to do triangles, and put lots of time into a block with the chance of winning. Any suggestions for easy blocks that have no triangles? thanks everyone

check out quilters casche or delaware quilt blocks. you will find just what you are looking for I like the kings crown. 4 flying geese but those are easier for me than trying to do triangles. they always get wonky on me!

Baketweave can be very pretty. All straight seams. You can find it on Quilters Cache.

I am just hoping for suggestions for blocks using just squares and rectangles. triangles seem to be a hangup with people. They either don't like doing them or they do not do then well. blocks without them would be quick and easy for everyone and might encourage more participation. if I can't revivie it in our 500 member guild it will just die. I know lots of experienced quilters no longer participate, but it is fun for new members and beginning quilters.

Just Can't Cut It Is a great, easy, quilt pattern with blocks and strips, and squares...

    This makes up really cute!

Not sure what this is ... do you each present a block pattern each month? Is it to be a teaching lesson? Or just a go home and make it? or whta?

If they don't practice ... they'll never get better at doing HST and QST etc. Without triangles they are missing out on so much in making quilts.

Maybe focus on the triangles ... and teach them how they can learn to enjoy making triangles ... and perfect ones at that!

Ditto on QuiltersCache for oodles of block patterns.

    Good Luck!
