Well, can't work on Deni's quilt until I get fabric so I'm gonna work on the Ninja Star quilt in the meantime.....or try to---been busy playing Lost Odyssey and coming up with new quilt designs (been working on a double wedding ring variation since I saw a tile design on Lost Odyssey).

The only thing is I haven't thought up how to quilt it when I finally get to the point of sandwiching this thing together. I got nothin'. You guys got any ideas?

Sorry, I don't have anything, but can't wait for pictures on the finished quilt!

Well, shoot! I wish I had some ideas for how to quilt it, but I don't. And the outer edge of this has weird shaped spaces to fill in so I'm not sure how to tackle that part.

You could stitch in the ditch the colored areas and stipple the white. That way the pattern really jumps out.

I think JG is on the right track. I think it would look neat on the back with the starts outlined.

I don't really like the stippling idea. Just my preference. And I'm not sure if my sewing machine could actually do that.

But that stitch in the ditch thing gave me an idea. Instead of stitching in the ditch sew like 1/4 inch away from the shapes and then sew another 1/4 inch from that seam and keep doing that, creating like a ripple effect. That'd be something I could definately do. Anyone second the idea?

Flying V,
I think it's a great plan. It will really highlight the design. When I've done "in the ditch" the quilting is lost. The echo quilting won't detract from the pattern the way some other designs might.
Can't wait to see the finished quilt.

That's what I was thinking, too. Think 1/4" would be fine or should I go with a bigger increment for the echo quilting?

I just have to get stuff for templates and I'll be set to go. Probably Tuesday at the earliest (Nick's coming up so no quilting this weekend).

Flying V,
Maybe 1/4" for the first then a larger increment for the rest?
1/4" between all of them might be too much quilting?
1/4 " from the seams would give you 1/2'' so maybe 1/2" between the rest?
I would probably choose a number that would come out equal depending on the size of your block.

I'll have to draw something up and see if it works.

Again, I've run into problems.

1. I don't know how well the echo quilting will work with the white on the outer part of the quilt. Its got all these spaces that get in between the outer "ninja stars". I'm thinking about starting near the stars and working my way outward. But when I look at it, I'm thinking if I do a couple runs and I won't have any space left to get back into those nooks and crannies...am I making any sense.

2. I have a black fabric for my backing. I have a LOT of white stitching (and pink) to do. All that will definatly show up on the back...which means any little mistake I make (espessily with the white) will show up. And technically this will be the second quilt I've actually quilted...or the third if Deni's quilt gets done faster...so I'm kind of scared about quilting it now.
