I saw a Shark for the first time in Canadian Tire. One was $80 and the other $100. I have never even heard of them before today.

I may end up trying the 'Goodwill' route. I also saw a 'Hamilton Beach' that looked pretty good. What I can't seem to get around is the auto shutoff. I really don't want it, but it seems they ALL have it.

distilled water is very dangerous when heated. it lacks the minerals to form bubbles when hot, so it overheats. a scary burn hazard.

stick to reverse osmisis water.

I'm getting older so I forgot to mention that the "Shark" uses plain tap water and has a "self clean" function.
