One last plea before
1. Throwing it out the window (I'm on the 8th flr), or
2. Giving in taking it to Missouri Sewing (Dr. to all my machines).
When I lower the needle, it goes through the bobbin case and hits the bottom of the casing (like the needle is too long) and it doesn't pick up the bobbin thread.
Replaced the needle with a shorter one (it goes thru but still doesn't pick up the bobbin thread.
Inserted needle several times, making sure flat side was to the back and that it was inserted up as far as possible.
Took bobbin casing out and made sure it was inserted correctly.
I keep going back every couple of days, giving it one more try but still nothing helps.
Reduced to using the Janome 405 I bought my granddaughter a couple of years ago - Lord knows she's not using it much since she discovered she's a track star, guess quilting's on hold for a while:>)
Any last minute suggestions before I have son take the old girl to the hospital?!?!?!?!?

Are you loosening the screw enough when you are changing the needle out, so it can go up inside far enough?

Or is there lint built up in there to stop your needle from going in far enough?

I hope you can figure this out and avoid a trip to the Dr :D:D:D

Also, one time I kept swearing my bobbin assembly was in correctly, and come to find out it wasn't. It seemed to fit in right, but I had the same problems as you :wink:

Is the bobbin in the case correctly? I mean is the thread unwinding in the correct direction?

Since you have more than one machine, are you sure you are using the correct bobbin and bobbin case?

Could you try using a different type and brand of needle? It may sound far fetched, but give it a go - a packet of needles is cheaper than a repair job.Try to buy the same brand as came with the machine.

I was having the same problems an it was because I was using the wrong bobbin.

if you've had any "broken needles" of jamming lately,,, it can be that the "timing" is off,,, ask me how i know??
just had a very severe accident wit the needle getting jammed and bent while in the down position... it's fixable, but by a tech... we've download lots of info and DH is a precision machinist, but some things are just left better to "the guy that does it all the time"... bring it to him :)
