I use an ordinary hand sewing needle. I like one that has a eye that I can thread but is still thin and sharp.

    Red face Threading Needle

I have put this up before, but it really helps me thread a needle.
Cut the thread to a blunt cut, no stray hairs
Hold the thread in your left hand between your forefinger and thumb
Pull it all the way down so that you can only see a small dot
Press the eye of the needle on the dot
Roll your finger and thumb up catching the thread.
Hope it works for you too.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to experiment with the types and sizes y'all have suggested!

    Hugs!
