ok ladies, another needle has hit the dust. I just put another in and the needle popped. so any advice what I am doing wrong? thread too tight? what? oh and this was a double needle one. I am thinking the thread tangles and put pressure on the needle. am I close??

Did you check to see if it is in "straight stitch", foot that has wide needle slot, or bottom plate with wide needle slot? That usually does it for me.

Check to see if the thread is getting caught in the notch on the top of the thread spool. This happens to me occasionally.
