I have never done paper piecing and just this past week saw some beautiful paper pieced blocks at a quilt group meeting. I would love to try this and the gal that had done the blocks recommended Carol Doak's books. Do you have a favorite? Do you recommend one over another? She has so many books that I just didn't know which one to choose. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I would buy one of Carol Doak's books like Sensational Stars that has the foundations in pdf format on a CD. No scanning - just pop the CD into your computer and print the foundations you want in the size that you want.

She also has a lot of free patterns on her site and she has a yahoo group with lots of activity, too.

(And I didn't get real specific about which of her books to buy because they're all really good - each of them goes over the basics in the front and then you get the patterns. I think all of her most recent ones will have the CD of pdf patterns in them.)

Hands down - Carol Doak. She has a wonderful DVD to teach you PP if you cant take a class from her personally. Her yahoo group is great too.

quiltercache also has some paper piecing patterns. It also has a "test" learning section.

I've really had a lot of fun trying them out.

You don't need a book. I learned everything from youtube for free unless you are looking for patterns
These are the 2 videos I watched

I started with QC's tutorial, then it was all "Learn To Do By Doing"!!
