When you are appliqueing a curvy stem, do you applique the inside curve first or the outside curve? I can't remember which one it is - if you do the wrong one first, then the other side is harder to manipulate. Don't want to find out after the fact

I sometimes find the outside curve easier to start with.

Mostly, I just applique. The difference is my mentality for the day. If I know I'm not into it, I don't do it. If I'm into it, I can start anywhere.

Look at your shape and start with the gentlest curve you have.

I find it easier to start with the inside curve, not that I believe in a right/wrong way. I'm with Kara, mind has to be able to concentrate to get it just "right."

I was taught- inside curve to start, the outside curve will then stand up...its pretty easy to get it to lay down though.

You applique the inside curve first, then the otherside will stretch into place.. of coure, we are assuming you are working with a bias strip...

If you sew down the outside curve first, then the inside will tend to pucker and not lay flat.
