Hi! am dabbling in quilting and find I quite like the jelly roll patterns. I have made friendship braid and am working on garden trellis. There are not really any other jelly roll pattern i this book Jelly Roll Quilts that I REALLY want to do. I would like suggestions for jelly roll books. I HATE to spend that much on a book and onlyy get 1 or 2 patterns out of it. I tend to like the contemporary patterns a little better - not the star or basket designs. Thx for input

Welcome to the board from Southern California!

There are some free patterns on line for using the Jelly rolls. A lot of other quilting patterns can be adapted to use with the Jelly rolls as well.

Not a book but a link to a pattern that *might* be contemporary enough for you and that uses 2 1/2 inch strips - http://www.quiltville.com/boxystars.shtml

I'm busting to make it in woody, masculine tones using a combination of prints and solids which I think will look great and be contemporary.

Boxed Squares is on the contemporary side.

I have made the boxy stars once and am getting ready to do another for a friend. It was easy to make-I'm a beginner and it didn't take me very long at all.
