Although not local, I think Days For Girls is a very worthy cause
Lang may yer lum reek. (I'm a knitter - hence - 'Knit-ette'. Confuses a lot of people!)

Our guild found a need for quilts, totes, and bags for foster children in our county. Especially for the older boys. We keep quilts on hand to give to policemen, fireman, EMTs, etc. who get hurt/sick. We use to donate quilts to the Red Cross until we found them all donated to Goodwill. They were thrown in a supply closet and never given out and then donated all at once to clear out the closet.
    I love my life!

How about a quilt show? You could raise money for a local charity with a small admission fee or a raffle quilt?

How about an Alzheimer Activity mats for local nursing homes?
