as the others have said - lots of different answers. I cut the selvages off (safe those for your friends or yourself doing selvage quilts or crocheting into rugs)larger seam and press open, depending on batting - polyesters tend to beard out the opening so press to the side.

Welcome! I'm apparently in the minority here. I usually use 1/4 seams and press open. Just me. Remember - there are no quilt police and it's your quilt.

Thanks for all the help on backing seams. I need all the tips I can get because I am self taught as far as quilting and just love all the good ideas you ladies have Sally Taormina
