want to buy used sewing/embroidery machine. Been looking on ebay since January. My budget is about 1,500.
Want opinions on Pfaff 2140? or any other suggestions.

I have the Pfaff 2170 which is the next one up from 2140. Love it. Lots of stitches, IDT. Using the embroidery took me some time, needed classes, but that's just me maybe.

I used to own the 2140, the difference if I remember correctly was the thread cutter and color of the trim on the machine. The 2140 software upgraded to the 2170 version by internet download. In my opinion, there was in no way enough difference to get me to pay for a 2170 model change.

I think the outside of the machine is different (including the bottom color) so the bobbin winder is different.

You may be correct in that is was the bobbin winder not the thread cutter that was the change. And, if you use prewound bobbins (my preference) it made no difference.
