    In reply to your question regarding quilting on small blankets, I always quilt whatever I maake as I think that is what makes a "Quilt", also protects it when washed. Since you are new with lots of questions, I would like to suggest to you a book I just received from a neighbor. It is called "Tips for Quilters" by Rachel T. Pellman, published by Good Books. This book has thousands of tips on all aspects of quilting sent to her from experienced quilters. Starts out with selecting fabric and goes through the process, I think you would find it interesting and informative. Best wishes on a rewarding hobby.
