Can someone explain to me the difference between the two blocks churn dash and shoo-fly? They look the same to me-but then maybe I'm missing something. Thanks

Many blocks are known by more than one name :D:D:D

Your question made me curious, so I googled each one, I believe the dimensions and relationships of the blocks are different, but you are right, they certainly look almost the same.

Thank you both. The blocks with more then one name is confusing. Now I also have to look out for really tiny differences also.

Based on a block reference tool I have, they are similar but different. Both are on a nine-patch format with half-square triangles on the corners and a square in the center.

The difference comes in the four non-corner, non-center pieces. In the Shoofly, these are square. In the Churn Dash, they are made of two fabrics sewn together to make the block and sewn parallel to the outside perimeter.

Confusing, yes, but hopefully it makes a little sense.

(My reference is the Quick & Easy Block Tool by C&T Publishing.)
