Sounds like a plan, QuiltE!

Just wanted to let everyone know that 'U-Quilt-It' in Smithville (Niagara region, just south of Grimsby) is having a sale until Jan 31. All batiks and flannels (she has the nicest flannel!) on sale for $4.20 a yard and all batiks are $4.20 a yard. Sharon Okimi is so nice and you'll feel so comfortable being there. Worth a drive, I think!

Geesh, I'm turning green with envy. I live in Northren Ont and we have a Fabricland, and one local sewing machine dealer who carries some quilting fab and supplies. I want to live where you guys live! Anyone have room for me? I promise I will clean up after myself and I'm an easy keeper.

If you'll clean bathrooms, you're in! I can make room!

But seriously, how far north are you? I think many of us who've checked out this thread have found we had more options than we'd thought... You should start a thread for your area. You might be suprised! Unless you live on a frozen island with polar bears... that's pretty far north.

So I'm guessing that your "north" is no where near that Barn in New Liskeard ... it's so enticing, and has me wanting to head north! Plan your personal Shop Hop and head south this summer for a FART and SABLE!!!!

Note to all Canadians ... let's show our Canadian Pride, and be sure to include our locations with our avatars. If you don't want to narrow it down, Canada would be perfect!!!! I've enjoyed this thread, just for "meeting" each of you and knowing there are more Canucks on this board than I knew before!

Just going to toss in another shop name: The Quilt Rack in Ancaster (west of Hamilton but not as far as Brantford). She has a lovely selection of fabrics, but I think she's surviving on classes and long-arming. Her fabric prices are typical for Southern Ontario, so I rarely buy anything on my visits north - but I love looking at her stuff! I try to drop in every time I am in town. They are having an open house this Saturday...

For knitters there is also a shop about 100m down the road from The Quilt Rack called The Needle Emporium. Conveniently, there is a very nice independent coffee shop between the two if you are in need of refreshment.

(And Dundas has a wonderful bead shop, but that is getting a little off this thread's topic...)

Hello Soo Lady!!! As a Northerner, you're probably thinking of SABLE as a fur! and dear knows what for FART. I'm a great one for dropping bread crumbs and "teaching them to fish" ... so here's your crumbs and fishing lesson.

Not only will you solve those mysteries ... you might even get some extra laughs!!
Stay Warm!

Soooo AlisonQuilts? ... a Canuck gone south? Or a temporarily transplanted American to Ancaster? Glad to have you join us and why not add the extra crafts/arts? Most of us don't do just one thing!

Canuck gone south, QuiltE, but with regular visits home to the True North Strong and Free! I was just there last week, and I seem to have brought some of the cool weather back down with me. Neighbo(u)rs not amused...

U can keep the ccccccccold and NOT ship it back north!
When's your next trip north? Perhaps you could bring a bunch of sunshine and warmth north?
Glad that you remember home!!! ....... speaking of which, I think you should include your Canuck status in your avatar location!

I'm all about we Canucks strutting our stuff .... of course, just a subtle strut, if we are going to be real Canadians!! And yes, a little self-serving as I like to know who my fellow Canadians are on these boards!

As an update for all who frequent Len's..............

They are marking a lot of their older fabrics down right now, anywhere from 30% to 60% off.
Some of them are very good quality ... and with good yardages remaining.

Also ... currently there is a 15% off coupon on their website (good til March end)... for all your purchases in the store.

Also again ... coupon for 20% off all Olfa rulers, rotary cutters and blades (til March end).

It continues ... in-store special ....... any green fabrics are 20% off in honour of St. Paddy's (no idea as to end date)

And finally ... they all are getting combined.

So for example today ... I purchased some green fabric.
Regular price ... $13.49
Less 30% (sale)
Less 20% (it was green)
Less 15% (online coupon)
Sweet!

And a perfect time to buy a new ruler (or how many?
I treated myself to a 16-1/2" square (have never had) and a new 6-1/2" (my old one is an omnigrid and I have discovered how much nicer the olfa's are IMHO!)

Happy Shopping Ladies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
