    No pattern - finished!

I posted a picture of fabrics and a half-baked idea for a baby quilt and thanks to all who had suggestions. This is also the quilt that sent me outside to mow the lawn when my 6" 9-patches turned out to be 3". Funny thing about "mistakes", that mistake turned out to be the saving block as my roommate and I tried every layout we could think of to make this quilt work. I have a large pile of 6" 9-patches that will probably get put on the back, but it's done, the baby is 3 months old, and the mother is in love with the quilt. I will never again start a quilt without a pattern!

Lemonade from lemons. I'm glad you didn't give up. It is beautiful. I'm so glad the mom was in love with it. I love the non traditional, vintage feel to your baby quilt. Awesome job!

I'm thinking that after you were so creative and the finished project is a beautiful, one-of-a-kind quilt that you'll be doing more of this and less making quilts from patterns. And you have the 6" blocks to get you started . . . . .

It turned out beautiful after all. I just a pink and brown paisley with polka dots done without a pattern. I actually enjoyed the challenge. With the messed up blocks I made a pillow case. Good job.

Your quilt is so cute and it doesn't show that you had difficulties and no pattern. You were very creative!
