Our DD is getting married in May, and I've decided to make the happy couple a OBW for their wedding quilt. I've checked out two books from the library, and I've been reading everything I can on the board so I can be ready. I was trying to envision using my regular 6 X 24 ruler with the 60* marking to do the cutting--but I found something better, without buying a new ruler. I have the Kaye Woods Starmaker six!!! It is a 60* ruler with sizes marked on it, and I just know it will work perfectly. Just thought I would pass that along as a helpful hint. Now I need to find just the right fabric, and bring up the tutorial that Cutebuns did for us. What a great tut--it'll be just like having a friend with me in my sewing room. Thanks Cutie :D !

Kaye designed the 3 Starmaker rulers with this in mind. With these 3 rulers you will be able to make every block that is out there. I will be seeing her next week and will let her know of your 'find'!

A OBW is a One Block Wonder--a type of quilt where you use just one fabric, usually with a large print. You make hexagons or octagons using different parts of the print. It produces a kaleidoscope effect and can make some stunning quilts. If you go to "Search" and type in OBW, you will get lots of results with information and photos. There is also an awesome tutorial done by Cutebuns that takes you step by step to create a OBW.

You can get the Starmaker rulers at Kaye Wood's website:

I got a great bargain when I found mine at an estate sale!
