I'm using Valdani 12 wt right now for the first time....tying a quilt. It's lovely stuff and easy to work with. I ordered it from http://www.bunnyhilldesigns.com/. She has it in color collections as well as individual balls. I paid $4.95 per ball but only needed two. Very fast shipping from this site. I also bought a pattern from her and like it also.

I've not used the Valdani brand, but I've used Aurifil 12wt for quilting and didn't like it. Actually ... I loved it but ...

It's very hard to match the 12wt on the top with a smaller wt in the bobbin and still maintain tension. I did not like the look that 12wt in the bobbin gave me. Using 28wt in the bobbin was better, but still too heavy on the back side for my taste.

It's lovely for handwork - I've used it for punch needle projects, too. I don't know if it's colorfast, might want to test it.

i use it alot for hand- wool applique. i love using all the different weights of perle cottons for hand work- especially wool applique- i generally purchase mine locally at the lqs, sometimes i find it at hobby lobby or joannes- sometimes i find it on line- check Evening star designs to see what brands they are carrying now- they may have what you are looking for.

I'm using it for hand wool applique. I got mine from here - snowflakememories.ecrater.com. They had the selection I needed at the best price. Delivery was very prompt.

I have not used the 12wt pearl but have used the 30 wt varigated for handquilting. I absolutely LOVED it. I think they make a great product no matter what you use from them, it is all wonderful.
