Paper patterns are a pain. I haven't used one since Home Ec. in High School, Many,Many,Many Moons ago. So I know some of you do sew clothes.
When you are using a paper pattern and the measurments are for knit,flannel you know stretchy material. I do know that it is a smaller pattern piece than with cotton. so it says on back of pattern pack. Now if I am making a size 2 little boys shirt and the sizing is for knits etc. do I use the size 3 to make up the difference. Am I making any sense? Cause that is my problem. I want to make my GRT.GRndSon some PJs with the Cars His Mom ask me to and He is a size 2. But my Pattern says shirt sizing is for the stretchies and the Cars are Cotton. The cars are those movie cartoon ones. So am I clear as mud? Does anyone know what I am talking about. HELP!!!!

I would think going up one size would be adequate...there is not much difference between a size two and three, I just checked my grands old clothes :wink:
The only thing that may remain the same, would be the length of elastic :D

I have no idea actually, but if it was me I would measure the pattern against a pair of his PJ's that fit him and go by that.

It depends on the pattern and the style, make sure that the neck hole is large enough if he has to pull it over his head, the length doesn't need to be much bigger, it is the width as there is no give and that is where the give is in the knits, most are a one way stretch. The bottoms if they are a two piece won't make a lot of difference but a bit widder is always good in pjs anyway,
