I get my daily newsletter, but not the notifications to the new replies in posted topics. Once I accidently deleted a notification as spam and had to wait for several weeks before I could start getting them again. Hated that! And I've been very careful to read every title in my spam file since. But, lately I can't get into the "introduce yourself" and the "classifieds" at times and then other times I can. I'll wait a few more days & if I don't get some notifications on comments to postings then I'll contact the admin. Hope your problems gets worked out.

I was not receiving mine either, so I made some mistake...apparently didn't contact right person...here is my response I got from adm. :

Our board is - as far as i know - the biggest and most active of its kind on the internet. We are privileged to see thousands of new posts every day. It is not unusual to see hundreds of members logged in at the same time on any given day.

So, despite the inevitable technical glitch we all have to muddle through from time to time, things here are mostly great by a very wide margin.

Members experiencing technical issues should use established procedures and submit requests for technical support through appropriate channels. Posting inquiries and complaints in board Topics or comments within topics will not put this important information into the hands of the technicians who work very hard to make us happy and to keep us happy. They have many skills and talents, I'm sure. However, they can't read our minds. They cannot fix problems they don't know about. And they cannot spend their days pouring through every topic and comment of every board they support in search of problems and complaints.

When you have a problem, go straight to the source. Provide detailed facts about the problem. Provide as much information as possible about the problem itself and about the equipment and software you use. The more useful information they have to work with, the more likely it will be that a solution can be executed on their end, or recommended to you for execution on your end.

Sending a private message to the Admin account is the least efficient option since a technician with access to that account must be logged into the board in order to receive and process the requests.

Please refer to the following to choose the proper method to use in your specific situation:

**************
ALL QUESTIONS, CONCERNS, AND SUGGESTIONS REGARDING BOARD FEATURES, POLICIES, RULES, PROCEDURES, ETC. SHOULD BE SENT DIRECTLY TO ME.

You can either send me a private message or send me an email addressed to [email protected]

I support only this board. You compete only with the rest of my own life for my time and attention. I do have a full-time job. I do need to attend to common personal tasks like eating, sleeping, breathing, running errands, etc. I even do what i can to squeeze in some time to quilt and participate here as the member I am. But I am able to dedicate my "board time" to this board alone.

Are you among those who want the emailed topic digests but are not receiving them?

The problems with the emails have been mostly solved, but not completely. At this point, the remaining problems have been found to be caused most often by faulty settings in members' email programs or because their Internet Service Provider has mis-identified us as a source of SPAM and has blocked all traffic from our servers. In some cases, it's been discovered that members were somehow unsubscribed from the email list.

The emailed Digests ARE NOT THE BOARD. They are simply a smattering of topic links selected by the software that sends them. They are sent in batches throughout the day. Whether or not they arrive at a time convenient to any one individual will depend on (1) which batch contains their email address; and (2) the time zone that member lives in.

our new server is in California, so for those of us living on the East Coast, USA, everything starts going out 3 or 4 hours "later" than it used to.

Don't confuse the Message Board/Quilting Board/Forum with the Digests. The board is here all the time, 24/7/365. All you have to do is come here ( http://www.quiltingboard.com ), log in, and fish around. In fact, you can select an option that will log you in automatically as soon as you get here. Couldn't be easier. 

It's extremely important that everyone understand that the digests only point toward a teeeeeeeeeeny tiny smattering of the topics posted here. If a member relies only on the digests to get here, or as their only method of keeping up with the neighborhood, she will miss most of what's going on. "Reading the digest" barely scratches the surface of everything available here.

The Digests are the least efficient way of keeping current. If you routinely come straight to the board and surf around on your own to check the latest happenings, you'll never need the digests.

Here's my own routine:

1. I set the board as my browser home page so i come straight here as soon as i hit the internet. (other options include putting a shortcut on your desktop, or adding the board to your browser favorites/bookmarks.)
2. I check my private messages by clicking on the "Private Messages" link at the top of the page. Once I've read and answered all my new mail, I
3. Click on the "Watched Topics" link at the top of the page to see the latest developments in topics of special interest to me. Once I've looked at all of those, I
4. Click on the "Unread Topics" link at the top of the page so I can see everything that's brand new since I last visited the board. After that, I
5. Click on the "Recent Topics" link. That takes me straight to all of the topics that have been updated since I last visited the board.

After that, i use the links at the bottom of the page if i want to go straight to a particular section ... just in case i missed anything.

The board is open 24/7/365. Join me, brothers and sisters! Declare your independence from the digests! Come to the board whenever you want! Go wherever you want! Read and contribute at any time of the day or night!

Revel in the freedom! (Picture a smiley, standing on a mountain top, hair blowing in the breeze, flags flapping all around, blazing sunset behind, birds singing, crowds below roaring with joy and laughter, dancing in the streets.)

That said, if you still want to receive the emailed Digests, the steps to follow, in order, are:

1. Thoroughly check all of your email program settings to ensure that emails from @quiltingboard.com are not blocked. It might also be necessary to specify it on a safe list.
2. Repeat those steps for the domain quiltedparadise.com
3. Once more through the settings to ensure that all email from @lifestyle.ibemail.com are let through.
4. Look in spam/junk folders to see if old digests are lurking there.
5. If necessary, contact the tech support folks from your email provider to get help going through all the steps.
6. Add the following email addresses to your contacts/address book:

[email protected]
[email protected]

7. If you use a supplemental email software (such as Outlook, Outlook Express, etc.) to retrieve and send your email, repeat all of those steps within the settings for that software.
8. If you've done all of that and are not getting the emails, send an email to [email protected]
Use the subject line: Request for Technical Assistance/Advice – Not Receiving Email Digests from Quiltingboard.com

Provide the following information, at minimum:

1. What is your board name?
2. What is the email address you used to subscribe to the Digests?
3. Provide technical information about your computer. (brand, model, age, how much memory does it have, processor speed, etc.)
2. Which operating system are you running? Which version?
3. Which internet browsing software do you use? (i.e. MS Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.)
4. Who is your Internet Service Provider?
5. Which access method do you use? (dial-up, DSL, cable, or satellite)
6. Who is your email provider?
8. What time(s) and date(s) did this issue occur approximately?
9. What is your computer’s IP Address?

To look up your IP address, please visit this website when you are on your computer at home:
http://whatismyipaddress.com/
and copy and paste the IP information that looks like
"IP Information: 98.158.206.109"

While you wait for the emailed Digests to start/restart arriving, you can use this shortcut to see them.

Copy and paste this URL into a document and save it to your computer desktop.

http://www.quiltedparadise.com/n/2011-4-26.jsp

When you want to access a Digest, open that document. Replace the date information with the current date (e.g. to see the Digest for 6 May 2011, change the 2011-4-26 to 2011-5-6

Copy and paste the edited URL into your web browser and hit the Enter key. You will arrive at the Digest.

If you would like to receive board Newsletters, you can sign up by browsing to the following URL:

Newlsetters are different from the Digests. They contain articles with tips and information that related to quilting.

http://www.quiltedparadise.com/

It should be noted that, as of 6 May 2011, the automated software routine for sending links to the newsletter is still not working properly. If you want to see one right now, you can use the following shortcut.

1. Type the following URL into your browser.

http://www.quiltedparadise.com/n/magazine-42.jsp

This URL will take you to issue #42.
To see a different issue, replace the 42 with a different number between 1 and 124.

What does this mean? I tried to update my email address and request daily newsletter but I get the above message when I do that.
