Judi - Could you PM me the names of the shops in your area? We will be travelling in your direction after Christmas and I might have time to visit a few. Thanks :)

Beautiful (east coast-Appalachian/Blue Ridge area) and I was told the fine crafts were passed down from many generations of Appalachian women. Incredible.

I cried for days when my nearby Hancock's closed. I design quilts during boring meetings at work. I get up in the middle of the night to sketch quilts I dreamed about. I genuflect whenever someone mentions Paducah. I stare at men's ties, and tile floors, and anything else that remotely resembles a possible quilt pattern. I live on this message board. Just another day in the life of a quilter. You are perfectly normal, my dear.

Oh yes you have caught the quilting bug. I even go to sleep creating fabric combinations. I just started a year ago and when I started coming to this board I thought people had a pretty obsessive problem. Now I eat, sleep quilting also. I see quilt patterns everywhere, floors, rugs etc.

Yes, Yes, yes. I always go to the remnants bin to look for pieces that I like. If you do scrap quilts that is a great place to find good pieces.
