Hi...having seen all the wonderful OBW's on here I want to try one.

Firstly, I bought this fabric and now am having second thoughts that I have chosen something with too many colours. Do you think this will be ok?

Secondly...I have been looking through the site and see instructions, which I'll go back and read again, but I'm unsure of how wide I need to cut my strips. Is about 2 and 1/2" about right..to make a 4" hexagon? I have a 60° triangle, but I'm just unsure of the strip width that I need to cut first

Thanks

Blessings
Janice

I am not into OBW, but I think your fabric will be beautiful.

Well, I think that it is a pretty busy fabric for an OBW, but I bet it will turn out great!! Cut your strips 3 3/4 inches, which will make a hex that finishes at 6 inches. You can go smaller, and do the 2 1/2 too. The smaller one will isolate the colors better. It's entirely up to you. You can cut a strip of each size and cut the hexs, then decide which you like best. Use the size NOT chosen as border accents, or a pillow or a doll quilt. And good luck, I want to see how it turns out!!

I think it would make a great OBW. there is a tut on here that cutebuns did and it tells how to do it step by step.

I would find & measure the repeats before figuring out block sizes. Your repeat will determine your block size.

I like the bright multi-colored OBW's better than the more subtle shade-shifting ones.

I agree. Take your repeat and divide it so that you can get the least amount of waste, after cutting out your strips :D:D:D

This fabric is very pretty :D:D:D

Thank you all...I've been busy reading through Cutebuns tuts and it's starting to make more sense now. Some lovely fabrics in there. I can't wait to get started :) I will certainly post pics when I'm done
