Must bother you gals who have done the OBW with a question. I have read the tutorial and have ven started to cut but something doesn't seem right. If I have a 11 3/4" repeat is this what I should be cutting and get a 11 3/4" triangle? It seems like it willo make an awfully large block. Thanks for all the help I can get. I have been wanting to make one of therse OBW quilts but just today started and now stumped.

Do you have the book by Maxine Rosenthal? I would strongly recommend that you get it, because it explains everything.

No, you cut 6 sections of identical repeats. Then you line them up EXACTLY, and then you cut your strips so that all 6 layers are identical. The strips are cut 3 3/4 inches, and then you cut your hexs.

You really need the book. I wouldn't even attempt it without one.

go to search at the top of page, type in obw there are lots of tutorials. you will need to cut your 113/4' repeat into strips. your block usually comes out to about 6". personally, i had to buy the book "one block wonders". price was good on amazon. have finally got one half finished. hope this helps

No, I don't have the book. Looked around town for it but couldn't find it. I thought the tutorial would be ll I need but I am stumped as to how wide to cut the strips with the 11 3/4 repeat.

The tute is helpful, but you need the book. The tute explains only a small part of the process. Try eBay and Amazon for a copy, and good luck.

I bought my OBW book on ebay - just look for one block wonder, or stack & whack, which is not quite the same but does use the method of stacking repeats as does the OBW. Some on this board have mentioned a particular quilt author - mine is not the same, but that book may be worth finding. Good Luck.

I will be checking the library tomorrow....hope they have them. I am also going to put an ad on the buy/sale board to see if anyone wants to sell theirs.
