Bright side to everything?! Sorry it happened to you, it is really discouraging, but better than sewing everything wrong and playing with the seam ripper the rest of the night. AS IF someone needed an excuse for chocolate .. this would be it!

I'm with you. I hate it when that happens.

Been there, done that. Everybody has done that!! I try to listen because my Bernina does make a subtle change in the sound when the bobbin has run out.

I would never use a bobbin for a top thread unless I needed a few yards of a certain color.

When your bobbin thread runs out, it causes no problem, but when the top thread runs out, it makes a big knotted mess which takes MINUTES to get rid of. I have run out of bobbin thread, but I try to check it every so often: take a glance behind the needle; admire my work; or something like that. I do more of this checking after I have recently had that bad experience. Then after a while I forget about it, and it happens again. LOL

I would rather wind the last few yards from a spool onto a bobbin so that the top thread will not run out.

My White rotary treadle's bobbin gets a bit noisy when its near the end. The fancy modern Viking won't sew if the bobbin is empty, its my only computerized machine.
I sewed 4 block pieces today after the bobbin thread ran out. lol I guess I was just practicing?
