Thanks bluphrog--good advice. I did ask a teacher at work where her daughter goes--and it sounds like a great place but it's over an hour away--not too bad. The local one is 5 minutes--but it just makes me nervous that she hasn't been doing it for too long.

No word from Jill on doing the barn one yet.

I don't blame you. That quilt is too gorgeous to not be sure of quilting talent behind it. I'm sorry to hear that. Let us know if you find someone to do it besides Jill and how it turns out.

I talked to my quilter last night. She has a disk problem that is aggravated by quilting, so she can only work the long arm an hour at a time, and she has 20 tops she's supposed to do for a friend who's being featured in a quilt show in June. So I sure can understand why she's not taking jobs. She recommended taking the barn quilt to a woman about 40 min away--she uses a long arm in a new quilt shop. I just talked to her and she sounds so sweet--and excited to see the tops. For overall quilting--Jill recommended a woman just 5 minutes away--said her customers have gone there and she's hearing good feedback.

So--looks like I'm going to be fine. Whew.

Here's the link to the new shop--I didn't even know it was there!!

I'm so excited!! I visited the new quilt shop and met the quilter!! She's so full of awesome ideas. For the barn quilt she's going to switch thread colors 4 times!! Powder blue for the sky, a variegated green for grass and trees, a red for the barns/roofs/silos, and an awesome variegated blue/green for the border. She's going to make grass type designs in those areas, branch like shapes in the trees, shingle like things on the roofs, and boards on the barns. The border will be a simple ivy leaf and vine.

For my sunny day top--I saw the perfect daisy that matches the one in the fabric! It needs to be enlarged, which she was happy to do. It'll be an all over design.

She estimates them to be done in 4-6 weeks--and the barn quilt to be $75-80 and the other one less!! I thought that was very fair!!

    I can't wait to see them!! I saw some of her work and it's incredible. :D :D :D :D :D :D

I send all of mine to Cotie Campbell in Parsons, KS. She's just amazing! I' m trying to find her email and links to her site. Here's a snippet of some awards she's won. You can also search for her under Cozetta Campbell. I met her when I won one of her Ebay auctions years ago and sent her several quilts to do. It then turned out that she and her husband are family friends of my new husband who also grew up in Parsons! Her husband goes hunting with my father-in-law all the time...It's a small world:)
