Thread: Old Hollywood Style?

I saw a Lover's Knot done in black, grey and gold and it was very elegant. Or perhaps a two colour Bargello--that could be very striking and bring a little colour to her bedroom. And then there is this one from our board. I love it! Toile stars I do think you should steer away from tradtional.

Good luck with this one. I googled 'old hollywood style' bedrooms, and not one photo had a patchwork quilt in it. I'd be wary of too much black, as it picks up every bit of fluff and hair around.

Saw this one called 'Aura' from a Board member and thought it looked rather elegant in those softer shades. Only 2 easy blocks, '54-40 or fight' (with white corner blocks) and 'Shoo Fly'- or is it Churn Dash

I love both of these because they remind me of the double wedding ring ... the name of which is so appropriate for a wedding gift

i like your choice of pattern... is her style glitzy hollywood? if so, there are so many 'shiny' fabrics to choose from

When I think of "old Hollywood", satin and velvet immediately come to mind - something shimmery and elegant. When you look at images of "old Hollywood" bedrooms there is a lot of satin. Do a very simple geometric pattern using washable satin and washable, low loft velvet (but not velveteen). Possible patterns could be square in a square, just plain square blocks alternating in 2 different colours with occasional embellishment on the satin squares, fan pattern with embroidery.

I made a satin and velvet quilt many years ago for a gift and the results were stunning. It was alternating 8" blocks of pale blue satin and royal blue velvet - quilting design on satin.
