I'm wondering why some quilters want old machines. Are they mainly collector's items or is there a special use for them? Just curious. I don't need something else to be looking for to purchase!

I love old Singers b/c they work great, are easy to maintain, and sew beautiful stitches. I am also sentimental about the machines ladies used to use. They are beautiful!!!
I have a nice Bernina but I use my old Singers a lot too :)

They sew a beautiful straight seam and most are very simple to thread and maintain.

I love all the old ones as they are made of cast and metal. No plastic parts to wear out and you can find most all feet to fit them therefore you can do anything quilting just about with them. I am not abel to pay high prices for a new confangled sewing machine and I have 4 old ones in the quilt room that can be used.

I love my FW because it's the one I learned to sew on 53 years ago. Strictly sentimental reasons.
