My mom gave me eight quilt tops. They are for a regular size bed.Should I put strips down the sides to make it bigger or leave it alone and quilt them as they are.My mom is ninety one and I want to do them so see can see them.

I would choose to finish them in the way that they would be most useful. I added borders to one of my grandmother's tops to make it a size I'd more likely use on a bed. Sadly, not quilted yet.

I have done both. Leave them the size that was made and Have add a border. I just wanted to quilt them to preserve the fabrics. Enjoy the heritage that your mom has given you:)

I've added borders to vintage quilt tops in the past to make them more usable. Picked fabrics I thought were a close match color and complementary wise.

I would add some additional borders to them as very few beds now are not queen or king size.

Would add one or more coordinated borders to frame her beautiful work.

Maybe your Mom has a thought for colors for the borders. It wouldn't hurt to ask.

My DMIL gave me a few vintage quilt tops last year.
After asking if she would be offended, I took the blocks apart and am turning this one into a QAYG.

Thankfully, I was able to find a fabric that very closely matches the creamy white color.
On the back, I'm doing a pattern of squares in the white and a lilac colors.

I've sent her pictures and she LOVES it... (whew!)

Vintage quilt top as given to me...
