I have been reading all the threads on the board about why you make them. Somesay to use, some say to show and some say to make an heirloom. You may not realize that even though you think your quilts or not worthy for show and you make them for fun and to be used daily-- someday many years down the road when a family member says my great grandma made this quilt it is now an heirloom. So please do not under estimate you talents. If your quilt survives all the abuse kids and family will give it do not fret for it will be an antique and a heirloom someday. so be proud of the work you do. Glenn

Funny how the world works. I was just thinking how my quilts are over quilted, or the designs have flaws on them. I was at a wonderful quilt shop today in Glendive, MT and was looking at all their wonderful quilts they have displayed and they let you touch them! I was so envious over the beautiful work they did on them machine quilting. I thought to myself will I never be able to do something this beautiful. Came back to my hotel room tonight and here you put this comment on here, thank you! Feel better!

Thanks for the gentle reminder....what it's all about really. Also, highlights the importance of a label!

It is wonderful to see this. My grandma and great-grandma both quilted.
Their corners did not always match, the fabrics were a smorgasbord, but they were warm and well loved.

When my grandma passed away all I wanted was a quilt...I got quilt blocks (kinda - they are circles I was told both grandmas had worked on them)

Part of the reason I started quilting was to practice and gain confidence in order to put these together. Recently my mom and I decided this would be a special project to finish this summer. Which will be even more special because it will be 4 generations of working together on one quilt.

To me nothing says love like a quilt. When you wrap up in them it is like a hug from generations past.
