My DD gave me his old wool blanket before he died. I can not use it makes me itch. So I washed it and dried it. I have a flannel top that needs to be laid and tied. So I was thinking of using the wool blanket for the batting with a flannel backing.

I think you can do that, just remember to wash it like a wool blanket.

Or you could put another backing over the wool on the back to keep it from scrathing you.

My Mom used to cover our old air force issue wool blankets like this all the time..

A piece of cotton fabric on top and another on the bottom, tied every six inches..

I think she is still using them 40 years later!

It is worth more as wool to rug hookers. They wash it in hot water to felt it and then cut it up. You might try to sell it and buy a batting.

I've used a wool blanket for batting and it works just fine, but it does make a pretty heavy quilt.
