I got all the fabric cut out for my bow tuck and decided to sit down and start sewing it together. I read and reread then rereread the first step and I'm already lost. I tried looking at the bow tuck pictures on here and the tutorial to how I'm supposed to sew the front pocket but what I keep seeing in my head is the raw edge sticking out with the rivals of strings of fabric hanging down if nothing is turned in. Maybe I'm in over my head.

You are sewing the pocket lining and pocket right sides together. Press seam and match bottom edges of pocket and lining and press. Open it up and place the fusible fleece along the top edge. Heat set. Now turn it right sides together and sew a 1/4 inch along each edge. Turn it right side out and you should only have a raw edge along the bottom. This will be added to the front when you have the quilting done as you want. Read the section about adding front pocket and it will make more sense. It took me a while on my first one and now I don't even need the pattern. I hope this helps.....And no you are not dumb....Sometimes directions are confusing.

Sorry....the first step I didn't make it clear....Sew the pocket lining and pocket together along the top of the pocket.

I see so many people make these and I often want to try one, have looked at the pattern several times and I just keep all the negative comments right up front and cant seem to buy the pattern. I've made several bags and never have I had a problem reading or understanding. Sounds to me that the maker of the pattern needs to be more clear. I guess I shouldnt jump to conclusions until I see the pattern for my self. Good luck to you on your handbag. I'm sure it will work out fine.

I agree that this pattern is not as easy as some others think, but read and reread until you have a "lightbulb moment". They do come out nicely and each one gets easier. Don't give up!!
