I think it needs something, but I agree that while I love the poppies, they grab all the attention between their bold colors & organic shape. I think something in the pastels family (like the rest of the flowers) would look nice. Otherwise, what about adding some subtle color with your quilting. Adding in some feathers in a very pale pastel (I'd probably go with a paler version of that blue-green color of the inner 9-patch check ... or else a pink & lavender variegated) surrounded by white filler would really look nice & would continue the design all the way out to the binding.

Really love the design & colors! Can't wait to see it once it's quilted!

I have a plastic quilt marking pattern of butterflies that would look great quilted in the white border ......would give it a bit of spunk without being overpowering

Very lovely quilt. I agree with the comments the other made. The flowers you put in the border don't look the same as in the quilt. Good luck with getting this top quilted.

I like it plain. I think it sets off your beautiful center. This is a lovely quilt!

thank you Bree123 for your suggestions. Today I have sandwiched and pin baste and not I am sitting with lots of scrap papers to practice my FMQ. I am not there yet to feel comfortable to do feathers, by I might give it a try. I will start with the center panel and then I will see how it goes. Most of my FMQ will be meander and shadows, maybe some butterflies? Grandkids are coming this coming weekend thus for a week I will have not time to quilt. As soon as it is done I will post it here, or maybe even sooner..... thanks to you all

I think your quilt is beautiful, but like you I have the same problem as regards the border. I decided to quilt the border with perle cotton in the same colour as the background to give it definition.

I would probably use the soft green of the small square as a border, with no added appliqué.
