This is something I read a while back and wanted to share it.

One thing I love about quilting is the wide variety of styles and people involved. From seniors to a youngster who sewed her first fourpatch. We share common interests and skills. While I have no desire to make a crazy quilt, I can and do appreciate them and their makers.
Another thing we share as quilters is creativity. Regardless of what type of quilt you make, you are creating. I now give you the Quilter's ABC's of Quilting, being a quilter, there's a shortcut. Our Alphabet only goes to "H".

A - accumulate. Do I really need to elaborate?

B - Begin - This is hard for most of us because it means we have to...

C- Cut into that fabric we have accumulated. Have you noticed how quilters are so reluctant to do this? If you have an eighth yard, you won't cut that. You only have a precious bit. You have eight yards???? Heaven forbid!! That's enough for the back of a king quilt. Once you get past this hurdle, the next is , as "Nike" says

D-DO IT! - It is hard to create a quilt if you don't do the work. At some point, however, you need to....

E - Evaluate. ABout midpoint, stand back and look at your quilt with a critical eye. Figure out what works and what doesn't. Decide whether or not to.....

F - Finish. This does not apply to every quilt. Some just deserve to die! You are not mediocre. Don't settle for mediocre quilts.

G - Get a photo. Even if you only make quilts as a hobby, a record os your work is important. Your ancestors will thank you later. When this is done, you finally arrive at.....

H - Hallehuah..hooray , head for Happy Hour.

Thank you Libby Lehman for a good chuckle. (permission to share with other quilters)♥♥

I agree with the whole article! I have a hard time cutting into my fabric. I always think no matter what pattern I use, there would probably be a better one to use after I've used up something. Must be that I'm neurotic........? I like having fabric as much as making something with it..

I agree Sandee. I have some batiks I just wont' cut up. LOL. It's really hard for me to cut into my Betty Boops fabrics. But think of the beautiful quilts they will make when we finally get up the nerve. ROFL.♥♥

I like this, thanks for sharing. I have a very difficult time using the end of my favorite fabrics. I know this makes no sense and manage to convince myself ‘some times’ because it would look pretty in a quilt. I have no problem doing this with the other things in my life at all. I don’t look at the last slice of pizza and say ‘oh dear it’s too good to eat.’ LOL!
