I have been quilting for a couple years now. Most fabric is from Walmart - some from Joanns. I think I am ready to bite the bullet and start buying better fabric. I have a quilt store a few minutes from my office - but thought I should ask for opinions from you all on where the best place online is. Any suggestions to someone just starting to buy the good quality fabric?

Some ebay sellers are very good. Like many people who live in rural areas ( in my case Alaskan bush community) online it is the only way I can buy fabric. I think a few people have mentioned a vendor on ebay called Franks11 on another thread. I have also used fabric.com ( via Amazon believe it or not ) and was very happy.

I have bought from fabric.com, theoldcountrystore.com, equilter.com, beverly's, connecting threads. I actually prefer shopping in the LQS because colors online are not true and I have bought fabric a few times that I couldn't use, so now I only buy online if I have seen it in an LQS or at a show and know what it really looks like becaise I bought what i thought was a coral pink fabric and got a surprise when it was just regular pink

This is my concern about buying fabric online. In person I can see what it looks like. Online I can just go by the colors shown on my computer.

I think I have purchased from all the ones listed above! Also, try Quilt Fabric Closeouts, Over the Rainbow. They have great everyday prices and really great sales. Thousands of Bolts probably gets most of my money...they have so much to choose from. By the way, all of these places sell first quality quilt fabric, not seconds. They just don't have the newest collections that are so expensive in the LQS.

Fabric.com is a fabulous place to shop and you do get a guarantee of satisfaction. But I would first suggest you go to a LQS and look at the different fabric lines. You will see the different designers and get a feel for the quality and colors they use. The when you shop on line you will have a better knowledge of the company and what they offer.
