I have a friend that at 45 is finally going to get married for the first time. I would like to make her a tote bag to carry her "stuff" to the church. She says she is girly but classic. I have chosen the Windham fabric "Nina Wedding" by Anna Griffin. Now I am looking for a classic style. Any ideas out there?

If it were me I would make her a classic tote style but embellish the heck out of it lol. You can add fabric roses or flowers to match her bouquet. You can really run with it. You will need to find out exactly how big she would want it before you can start looking for pattern ideas though...

Hi there, when I did a google, I found several fabric patterns ..........each appeared very elegant. Perhaps some beading at the flowers? I personally like a bag with a long handle to put over my shoulder. My hands are frequently full with handbag, and perhaps an umbrella, car keys.............just a thought. calla/Sue

Say yarn or fabric...........great minds think alike........gggg.........

I made a real simple one for a friend who was getting married to carry all those things that you don't know you need on the big day till you need them (safety pins, needle and thread, buttons, aspirin, shot of whiskey). I just cut a couple big rectangles of muslin, sandwiched batting in between, did a simple grid quilting. Covered the outside with a rectangle of lace and bound the raw edges with ribbon. On the inside, I made loops of ribbon fitted to hold everything, rolled it up and tied it with ribbon. Think the whole thing took about an hour and she loved it.

Thanks for the input. My head is swirling with ideas. This is where I am with designing the bag. I went to Hobby Lobby today and got some Swaroski iron-on crystals to add. I have several other coordinating fabrics and may do more of a patchwork design.
