I think it looks fine. How was the border to be different?

If you are giving it to someone who doesn't quilt. I don't think they will see your error. Plaids can sometimes be a BIG problem.

I wouldn't change it. It's plaid and plaid goes all over the place.

My honest opinion is that if that piece were mine, I'd have to find a different border for it. If you keep it, that strip will drive you crazy, and if you're going to give it away, the recipient may not think it looks as good as it could have had you used all of the same fabric.

Yeah, I'm too OCD to live with that wonky plaid. But that's just me. And really, some people love that vibe. If it doesn't bother you, then I'd leave it.

Edited to say that I hadn't seen your replacement option when I wrote above. I like the red very much! Congrats!

As my Grannie would say "on a galloping horse no one will know"! Yes, it would bug me if I was keeping it but if I was giving it away I wouldn't even worry about it. My family accuses me of having severe OCD issues when it comes to stuff like this but I have met very few people who ever even notice half of the stuff that bugs me.

It would bother me - not so much that it is pieced - but that the plaid was not matched

I do like how you placed the other five pieces around the center - they all seem to be "on bias" to the edge of the center

It looks just fine to me. We are always our own worst critics. It's gorgeous.

If it were me, I'd change it. The block is wonderful but the mismatched border pieces just don't do it justice.
