i started to make a lone star without a pattern (crazy i know) ive never made one befor and for some reason i had it in my head that i needed to cut the strips at a 60 degree angle. so now i have a six pointed star insted off an 8 pionted star so my question is what is my star called is it still a lone star? and how do i make the setting triangles now since i cant use 90 degree triangles and sqares? please help

this is what it looks like

I would probably applique the star on background material! It is beautiful!

EDIT: Since you haven't sewn the star points together yet, could you put your background material on the sides of your star points and miter them together?

It looks like it would still work. Just sew one half together (3 parts) then
do the same with the other side and add them together in a straight line.
Hope I explained this well. Should work fine and you will have a nice lone star.

Edit: I think you will have to do some math or use graph paper to figure
out the angles for the setting triangles.

The classic 6 Point Star is the Star of David. Yours is unique, haven't seen this before, maybe you can be the one to give it a name.

If you continued in the 60 degree idea, would putting in 2 60 degree triangles work on each side indent? You would end up with a hexagon shape? Would that be easier to continue?
