Original Farmer's Wife Book versus new Farmer's Wife 1930's Sampler

I have the original Farmer's Wife Book. Recently I've been seeing ads for the new Farmer's Wife 1930's Sampler book as well as sew-along groups. What is the difference between the two books/patterns? Is it worth purchasing the new book, or could the original book be used for the sew-along sessions?

I'll be watching for the answer -- I've wondered the same thing myself.

Here's the thread for the new Farmer's Wife 1930's Sampler sew-along for this board. This is my first Farmer's Wife quilt, but it's my understanding that the patterns are completely different than those in the original book. In addition to the main thread, there are now 5 other threads for each week of the sew-along. Search on Farmer's Wife and you'll see them. Come join us. I think there are participants who are still working on the second and third week's blocks, so it won't take long to catch up.

I don't see how the blocks from the 30s have changed that much over the years. Probably just a new edition. Hard to tell.
