Default Orvus soap to clean quilts

I like to wash a quilt after I have had it on our bed for a few months. How much Orvus should one use in a washer to clean without overdoing the suds level?

I thought it was a tablespoon? It's concentrated so I put it in the water and run the agitation a minute or so.

HA! HA! Honestly, I can't speak to how much to use for a quilt - but it took about 2 tablespoons to wash a cow when I showed beef cattle in 4-H! It's a great soap, cleans well but still very mild and rinsed out completely so we could use it on our animals.

I think the label says a tablespoon, but I'm a bit generous with it. Remember to soak without agitation, spin out, fill with rinse water (no agitation), spin out, then repeat the same way with a second rinse. Line dry out of the sun, or dry laid flat outside between two clean sheets.

LOL...our Grands are at county fair using Orvus as we speak. 3 cows and 4 heifers are squeaky clean tonight...we buy it by the gallon.

I use Orvus for quilts and all my dark clothes and gentle cycle clothes. I was my quilts on the casual clothes cycle with cold water. They come out fine. I use a couple tablespoons of Orvus in a load without problems.

I learn something on this board every day, never heard of Orvus. I wear a lot of black, will have to find some!

I buy it by the gallon at a farm store. I use it for pantyhose and bras and anything else that needs a gentle soap. The little jars they sell at quilt shops is the same as the big gallon. Expensive to buy but lasts for years.

1 teaspoon is all you need. I used Orvus soap for washing clothes for many years, was happy when detergents like Cheer Free and the like finally were available.
