DH heard it on the radio today-they'll be closing around July. A few years ago they were going to close and a big letter writing campaign kept them open. Now that they're under new ownership that probably won't work. This is the only place to buy fabric and decent thread and notions within an hour's drive. Our walmart quit selling fabric a long time ago and if they start again, great for people who buy it there but they won't sell Schmetz needles, Gutermann thread, Omni, etc. I don't buy a lot of fabric at Joanns but I do buy some and I get a lot of other things there. Not happy at all. And I just got my educator's discount card too. :thumbdown:

So very sorry for you. Our Walmart sells fabric, but this town has never had a fabric store. I guess you can't miss what you never had.

watch the sales!!!! it will start with a small percentage off and that will get bigger as the sale date gets closer. I've added a TON of fabric and supplies to my stash by shopping JoAnns when they close a store. Up to 90% off the final days...but there won't be much left, so shop early and often.

Our (not so) local Joanns closed only to open a bigger store in the complex next door.

Maybe just MAYBE they will open a bigger store. Esp. since there is no other fabric stores around!

However when they close watch for AWESOME sales!

the best JoAnns deals I found, where when they closed a store and opened a bigger/better store a block away!! They moved NOTHING from the old store into the new store.....great deals to be found.

I have heard that several Joann's stores were closing. Our local paper announced that we are getting one. Sorry to hear that they are closing in your area. I don't buy to much fabric there either..mostly books and thread and notions.
