Try and talk yourself out of that one. You have to use a computer to make it embroider. You have to send each design section over from the computer to the machine in blocks. It also sews slowly. Most repairs need to be sent back to the factory. I think it runs around $1000.00. There are several brands out there that sell a sewing and embroidery machine in that price range that should serve you better and that have a much better repair record. Good luck in your quest.

I have a SES 2000 and also a Brother LB 6800. The SES 2000 sews faster than the Brother. You don't have to buy separate software for it unless you want to use your TrueType fonts, embroider a photograph, etc. It sends blocks of color to the machine one at a time but you can send the whole thing if you want to embroider in all one color. I believe all the futura's use the same software.

They do use the same software. I checked on the warranty and it offers a one year adjustment. That doesn't say labor. Sure you have the 5-10- and 25 year warrantys. But labor isn't cheap and Futuras have a history of needing repairs. Do you have an authorized service center in your area? During your service warranty time frame,an unauthorized service center that works on your machine, voids the warranty. I'm just saying, you can spend the same money elseware and get a better machine with a better repair history. I would much rather read on here......Thanks for the heads up. I love my new machine (whatever brand you buy)Instead of ....Why didn't some one tell me. Someone out there must have known. I belive there are some very happy Futura owners out there. Point being...FYI.

I understand what you were saying but you told her to look elsewhere. There are alot of Singer haters on this board (kind of like the PC/Mac rivalry) and I just wanted to add my 2 cents worth in support. :D I have all Singers both vintage and new and I have never had a problem with the new ones (and I'm hard on sewing machines) :cry: Thank God for that because as you eluded to authorized services centers are scarce in my area :cry:

I just used my singer futura 250 tonight. I've had it for 5 years give or take. I've had it in the shop once and that was last year for a tune up after 4 yrs of use. I like my machine, I dont use it often. If I had to do it again would I buy this machine, no. There are better machines with better software. These are very limited in design editing. Mine was an impulse buy. Singer quality has went down in the last few years after brother bought them out. Its not bottom of the line but its pretty close.

I am not a Singer hater. I just gave one to my granddaughter and I have a featherweight. I also teach new owners how to use their new singers. I was speaking on an embroidery machine-sewing machine level. I also teach machine embroidery to new owners as well as seasoned owners of all brands of machines. Granted I have alot to learn, I've only been teaching these classes for 13 years. Just wanted to help, nothing more.

I think that's great.I'm going to learn,I HOPE to download embroidery designs off the internet.I know nothing about that.
