Default panel quilts

I am about to give up. I have a fairy quilt panel to make a quilt of. I am trying to find anything with pictures, ideas and instructions on how to go about this. I am a visual person so it needs to be a picture or really explicit directions. I spent the whole day going to fabric stores, book stores, looking through all the quilt magazines on the stand and still cannot find anything on making panel quilts. It was suggested that I buy the book by Barbara Becker but I live on SS and cannot afford the price of the book. If anyone has any printed articles or a book on this subject I would be very happy to pay for it. Couldn't even find a You Tube video. I am really desperate. Would appreciate any help at all.

What are the dimensions of your panel? What is the name of the panel or can you post a photo of it??

The project does not have to be elaborate . Let the panel do the talking. Add borders, maybe put cornerstone blocks on it.

Don't give up!

Measure your panel.
If it is not an easy size to work with, add a simple border to make it an easy size to work with.
Pick any quilt block you like in whatever size you need to make another round around it.
Add another simple border around your pieced blocks. Ta-da! It's a quilt.

Here is a picture of one that uses 3 simple borders instead of any pieced borders.

And here is one with both simple and pieced borders.

Nancy's Notion's has had lessons on how to do panel quilts. Look at her site for TV programs maybe that will help you. Sue

Head to the Michael Miller website. There are free downloads for "panel" quilts. Just make sure the main panel used in the poject is the same size as your panel. All fabric companies offer free project patterns .

One episode with Nancy Zieman is called Quick Panel Quilts. Good luck!

I just bought a Wolf panel, along with coordinating fabrics, for my grandson. I plan on just putting simple borders on it. He will be thrilled by the wolf panel so the rest doesn't have to be fancy!

Google "fairy panel quilt" - lots of ideas there. With a panel you need to be a little adventurous as far as deciding what setting to use. It's hard for anyone to write a pattern that will work for all panels, because they are different sizes and shapes.

I just googled panel quilts and a lot of quilts came up. Some look very simple but cute.
